Xulil Chan | The End of the Sky
A sister piece to Sak Be', Xulil Chan continues the celestial narrative through the same ethically collected Atlantic
Bittersweet shells (Glycymeris decussata), whose white and warm orange hues carry the silent memory of Earth's ancient seas. Once again, nature becomes a storyteller — the shells, shaped by over 140 million years of tides, embody time, resilience, and origin. In this diptych, two panels come together to form a half-circle — a symbolic horizon, the threshold between sky and cosmos. Xulil Chan, in Mayan thought, marks the place where the sky ends - a quiet edge from which the soul prepares to enter the luminous path of Sak Be. Where Sak Be'speaks of journey and motion, Xulil Chan is stillness before transcendence — an invitation to pause, reflect, and step beyond.
